Finally, our long wait for an Olympic medal has come to an end, or has it?
Team Singapore, led by Li Jia Wei, has won S.Korea 3-2 in the Women's Team SF 1 of Table Tennis. Sure they're Singaporeans... I'm proud of them.
Though I still prefer a Singapore-born player to bring home a medal. Foreign talents are great and all.. but why don't I ever hear a Singapore-born foreigner winning a medal?
Singapore's system had always been academically inclined. The birth of the Singapore Sports School is commendable, but we see how they dominate the school sports. Yet, they still crumble overseas. This shows how our academic mindset had limited the sporting talents to only a small pool.
If Team Singapore were to be really made in Singapore, then we need more Sports Schools. The students will be the perfect breed - outstanding in both sports and academics.
Still, congratulations Ch- I mean Singapore.

The New Paper should be fined for causing a stir among the public, raising doubt and suspicion. Is it really necessary to doubt the state's democracy, question whether we are ready for a non-Chinese PM?
