Majulah Singapura - 43 and counting

A mere HAPPY NATIONAL DAY to all!

I take pleasure in others' misery. Instead of going all 'happy wishes for Singapore, i love you singapore' and such, I rather dampen spirits. Afterall, the fireworks are over, curtains down eh?

I question the 'Singapore Spirit' in people. I mean, sure most adults feel proud and patriotic and all... what about the students? The performers in the National Day, the contigent, all teenagers involved in the parade itself... are they really patriotic?

National Day is about patriotism. The love for your country, a love so strong you will risk your life for her. Do these teenagers really understand the status of being in a contigent? The national pride, more than just being a speck on TV. I rarely watch NDP parades. It's because these teenagers, both in contigent and spectators, do not really feel for their country. These same people criticise the government over small matters, not understanding why they are so pragmatic.

Like the slogan, let us 'Celebrate the Singapore Spirit'. Do not just think of it as 'being on TV' and 'oooh fireworks!'

Nevertheless, Onward Singapore

Merely.
