The stereotype i'm talking about is of course the subject on 'Innocence'. According the all-knowing Wiki, 'Innocence'
can also refer to a state of unknowing, where one's experience is lesser, in either a relative view to social peers, or by an absolute comparison to a more common normative scale. In contrast to ignorance, it is generally viewed as a positive term, connoting a blissfully positive view of the world, in particular one where the lack of knowledge stems from a lack of wrongdoing, whereas greater knowledge comes from doing wrong. This connotation may be connected with a popular false etymology explaining "innocent" as meaning "not knowing"
Exactly. Just because a person does not do stupid things in school doesn't mean he is innocent. Just because a person seems decent and does good things doesn't mean he is innocent. And just because a person wants to get something that is not considered 'innocent' doesn't mean he wants to SHOW he's not innocent. This is all rubbish stereotypes.
Smoking is an excellent example. Though majority of teenagers who smoke are 'those' people, there are those who arn't. Does that make the minority not innocent? This huge stereotype that's around is bleaking the line between good and bad.
Stereotypes just show the immaturity of a person, or environment. Innocence doesn't have to do with not causing trouble at all. Kick the stereotypes out will be like bringing down the Berlin Wall. It has to be done sooner or later, or people will suffer from it.
Merely.
